New Gets

While attending Great Western Saws customer appreciation days I picked up a Oneway Live Centre.

The main body has a threaded cup centre, the only moving part, mounted on two bearings.

The centre point is inserted.

The kit comes with a reversible bull nose cone.

As well as a full point cone.

Also included is a knock out rod for removing the centre point, which doubles as a spindle stop, needed for removing the cones.

This live centre is very well made. The only thing I didn't like was the instruction manual. As a beginner woodturner, I need everything to be explained. I would like to see pictures of each cone in use, to better understand their application.

  1. That looks like a nice piece, oneway sure makes solid gear. I have the misfortune of owning grizzly's dead center, what a piece of junk. I should have known better. How's the powermatic?

  2. Ya Tyler, my equipment isn't holding me back, that's for sure. The Powermatic is OK, it turns out I chose the worse one of the two as my user, the spindle has a lot of runout and the headstock gets way too hot. Hopefully sometime over the winter I'll rebuild the better one and retire this one to the parts bin.
