Five Minute Bench 12

OK, so there's no dovetails in this one but I figured this was the best way to classify this post.

This is my second tray, I was almost done the first when I decided I wanted a place to hold the irons. I tossed it into the scrap bin when I thought someone may want it. If you have a Veritas Router Plane and would like a little unfinished french fit Bubinga tray for it, post an "I want it!" in the comments area below.

  1. I figured somebody else would take this before now. You don't know me from Adam, I'm just a subscriber to your blog. But if you just going to throw that tray away, I'll take it if you feel like shipping to Colorado. I'll cover the cost or send you something from here to make it worth your while.

  2. Matt, it's yours. Send your address to hagen.woodcraft@shaw.ca and I'll get it in the mail.

  3. I think you could improve the fit of the second one... If you want to ship it to me, I'll take it so you can make a better one;)
    Nice work!
    Cheers

  5. do you store the plane in the tray all the time? Do you get any rust on it?

  6. Yes, and no. I'm in a dry climate, I've never had problems with rust.

  7. Beautiful!

I googled on "french fit hand plane" and ended up here. I'm going to do some French fit inlays for my toolchest to hold my planes. I've even got this same router plane, but I think I'm going to go with something more basic to start with (a sheet of MDF with a recess for each handplane).

    Anyway, again - very nice!
